Part 1: I'm Ready to Buy My First Home, Now What?
Buying a home for the first time can feel overwhelming. Where do you begin? How do you know where to find homes? What do you look for in a Real Estate Agent? There are so many things to consider when you make the decision to achieve the “American Dream”, and I’m here to tell you it’s going to be ok!
The first step should always be to align yourself with a licensed real estate agent, consider this square one. Be sure to meet a few until you find one that you click with. Keep in mind, you will be communicating with this person daily for the next few months, so its very important that you feel comfortable with the one you choose. Consider asking family and friends who they have worked with in the past, and always be sure to check online reviews!
Next comes the mortgage pre-approval! More than likely your Real Estate Agent will have a few references for a mortgage lender they have worked with in the past. Similar to finding your agent, it is recommended that you speak to a few different professionals before you chose who you will work with. Once you chose one and begin working with them, they will ask you questions regarding employment history, income, debts, and credit rating amongst other things. The mortgage professional will advise you on you eligibility, and explain different loans types with you.
Once you have your Realtor and Mortgage Lender on board, and your pre-approval in hand, you are ready for the fun part-looking at homes!
